Rot · Eat · Move

A place for
noticing things.

The things that become normal before we're old enough to decide if they should be.

About

The stuff underneath the stuff.

Rot · Eat · Move started with noticing how much of a life can get decided before anybody really thinks about it.

Family has a way of doing that. So does money. Marriage. Work. Motherhood. Being a woman. Just being alive long enough to pick up a few habits you don't remember choosing.

Some of them are useful. Some of them follow you around for years. And some of them look perfectly ordinary until one day you see them a little differently.

That's mostly what gets written about here.

The things we inherit. The things we repeat. The things we want. The things that probably aren't ours anymore.

Rot · Eat · Move

Not everything needs to become a lesson. Sometimes you just notice it.

I'm Mel.

I write about family, money, work, women, bodies, relationships, home, wanting things, leaving things, and the strange little rules people live by without realizing they're rules.

Some of it is heavy. Some of it isn't.

It's all part of a life.
